Want to know whether you may qualify for acceptance in the BOATSETTER program? Please read the following to learn more about the BOATSETTER website.

Remember too, if you don’t meet the following eligibility requirements (other than age) you may still be able to charter a boat, but we’ll need to get specific underwriting approval from the insurance carrier for the insurance to be effective. If you’re not approved by the insurance company you may yet still qualify to charter a boat provided a Captain is hired and on board at all times. Give us a call to learn more!

BOATSETTER does not itself offer or provide bareboat charter services. The BOATSETTER website simply brings people together. You are solely responsible for determining whether to charter a boat from a user of the BOATSETTER website.

BOATSETTER has no control over and makes no representations as to the seaworthiness, and/or safety of a chartered Boat nor does it guarantee the parties will complete any or all obligations of the charter.

Never assume you’re afforded any insurance coverage unless you receive specific confirmation of coverage from BOATSETTER.

You’re solely responsible for knowing and abiding by the laws and regulations for chartering and operating a Boat in the jurisdiction in which the Boat will be chartered and used.

The following requirements apply to all Renters:

  • Be at least twenty one 25 years old. (no exceptions, except one: You may be 21 years old provided you hire a properly licensed captain to pilot the Boat at all times during the charter.)

      • 2 years or 20 hours of experience operating boats of similar length (within 10 feet of the requested boat) speed (within 10 mph) and style (such as catamaran, inboard, motor yacht, etc).
    • The following information should be provided to aid in acquiring insurance coverage:

  • If Owner approves the boat to be towed behind a vehicle, Renter must possess prior experience trailering similarly sized boats and, in any event, Boat may not be trailered more than 25 miles from its permanent storage location.
  • Renter must possess a major credit card (VISA, MC, DISCOVER, AMX) or other payment method (e.g., PayPal) with available credit to cover one and one-half times (1.5x) the cost to charter the Boat plus the damage deductible up to 2% of the Boat’s value.
